11/14/2023 0 Comments Broom standing up by itself![]() ![]() It may just be because I’m disabled myself but still… Energy conservation and consideration alllll theeee wayyyyyy honestly makes it so much more realistic for readers like me Whether it’s a broom stick, a magic carpet, a nimbus, I think it all has to do with how much energy the person has at the time, how far the travel is, and how much space they have to work with in keeping their body attached to the flying object.Īnother thing to consider is, does it cost them energy to use it to fly? If so, they’d probably be a lot more tired on a longer journey, especially if they’ve been through a lot, so I doubt they’d want to stand or dangle. You can bet I’ll let my arms dangle and feel the wind. No energy at all? 100% laying down and using the broom head as a pillow. Or I’m ready and able and in a hurry, I might grab it as it’s taking off and then climb on and position myself mid flight. It was a big battle? I’m totally sitting, maybe with one knee up on the stick and one hand behind me keeping me steady. However I can sit/stand/squat/hold on it that’s comfiest at the time is how I’m doing it. ![]() ![]() I like to think of it as any other moving object. Broomstick busses could be a thing, or broomsticks with multiple seats mounted along a much larger than usual stick, maybe for a family of witches where the kids are too young to have their own. Simply attach a broom to each side with a specially constructed harness, lift off, and go wherever you want to go.īoth of these could also be scaleable. This is also a method that would allow, say, a witch in a wheelchair to "ride" a broomstick. You could use it like the boot of a car, where the witch would still be seated on the "driver's broom" and steer from there, or have it be a team effort with one witch on each broom. This allows for transporting more than just the witch and her groceries. You could have them attached to one broomstick (perhaps to transport a passenger or heavy/big objects), or hanging between two of them. Makes the broom more comfortable and allows the witch to attach bags to safely transport goods and/or familiars. You can have a standard saddle, or a side saddle. Pretty much just modifying method one and two. Or the author just want the character to seem a bit different or unique.īut I wonder, besides these 3 classics, are there any other ways an author could write? Is there another, untapped, way of using a broomstick? I need to know, so please, help me! Or, on the other hand, how they rage against the system/the man but refusing to actually sit on the broom. This type of broomstick riding usually is seen in the “fish-out-water” character, trying to show how different they are. This usually involves Callie standing up on the broomstick itself, riding it like a skateboard. This way of riding a broom isn’t really “riding” the broom any normal sense. Usually used to show the class and elegance of a character. Since this way of sitting is more risky and seems much harder to pull off. Usually this is used for female witches and/or the witches that are more “talented” in the sense. Meaning her legs are out and her butt is on the broomstick itself. This way of sitting shows Callie sitting sideways on the broom. The broom in between her legs with her hands in front, gripping the stick. I’ve called this type of sitting on a broom stick the “classic.” It usually involves the character, who I shall call Callie for simplicity, sitting front facing on their broom. And I can only seem to think of 3 different categories shown! I’m thinking about broomsticks and how witches/wizards are usually shown riding them.
